Trypsinogen Product Information

Trypsinogen is the 24 kDa inactive precursor zymogen precursor of trypsin which may be activated by enzymaic removal of an n-terminal hexapeptide to yeild single chain beta-trypsin. Subsequent limited autolysis produces other active forms having two or more peptide chains bound by disulfide bonds. The predominant forms are alpha-trypsin, having two peptide chains and beta-trypsin, a single chain.

Stability/Storage: Stable for 2-3 years when stored at 2-8°C. Protect from moisture.

Unit Definition: One Unit hydrolyzes 1µmole of p-toluene-sulfonyl-L-arginine methyl ester (TAME) per minute at 25°C, pH 8.2, in the presence of 10mM calcium ion.

Technical Notes: 1mg trypsin ≥180 TAME units, 10,350 BAEE units, 3,450 USP/NF units.
